Police Scotland ICT Department is embarking on an ambitious programme to implement a range of 'enabling' technologies in support of operational policing. We are looking to recruit experienced Lead Technical Services Officers to support the underlying infrastructure on which a range of innovative developments, including Enterprise Mobility, Forensics, Cybercrime, Systems Integration and National Systems Developments.

You will be valued for your contribution in terms of technical designs and solutions, and for recommending solutions that fit with organisational goals, relevant legislation and ICT strategies under the direction of the Head of ICT Systems.

Under the direction of the Head of ICT Systems, you will be making a valuable contribution to ensure the ongoing delivery of critical ICT services within Police Scotland, as well as assisting in the adaptation, transformation and improvement of the organisation’s IT systems in the line with the Policing 2026 Strategy.

As a Lead Technical Services Officer, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of aspects of the organisation’s server infrastructure, as well as core domain services. Within projects, you will act as a technical lead providing technical expertise along with the design, implementation and support of systems components.

You will be have advanced knowledge and experience in several technology areas, including Microsoft server operating systems, Microsoft Core services such as Active Directory and DNS and have experience with server virtualization or Citrix. Professional qualifications in a technical discipline are desirable. Additionally you should have excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills.

This full time post is temporary until 31/03/2023 and will require Management Vetting and Security Clearance Vetting. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9am–5pm.

Travel to other locations throughout the country may be required on occasion to attend meetings\resolve issues.

A full UK driver’s licence is a requirement for this role.

The post holder will be required to participate in an on call rota for mission critical systems, for which an allowance will be paid.
