The DESC (Digital Evidence Sharing Capability) programme is a large scale, complex programme designed to be transformative in its ambition to modernise the Criminal Justice System in Scotland. Working in conjunction with a 3rd party market leading vendor and software solution the programme seeks to use technology to support the capture, storage, editing and sharing of Digital Evidence between and across CJ Partners. DESC is also regarded as a critical enabler for further change and transformation in this key area. The programme involves a range of Criminal Justice partners including Police Scotland, Scottish Government, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) and the Defence Community.

Police Scotland’s Digital Division is embarking on an exciting programme of works to implement a range of technologies to support and improve operational policing and therefore the safety of our communities. We are looking to recruit 2 Operations & Support Officers to join the team to provide support to these projects.

When not involved in the project, you will be valued for your contribution in terms of providing 2nd line support to users and the user client estate, working as part of the national team and expected to travel to multiple sites, both in the immediate area and occasionally further afield for larger pieces of work.

As a successful Operations & Support Officer, you will be educated to HNC level or possess an equivalent professional certification in a related computing discipline. In lieu of formal qualifications, candidates must have either industry recognised qualifications, or relevant experience in a similar role.

These full time posts are temporary for 18 months with an end date of September 2023 and requires Management Vetting and Security Clearance. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 0900 – 1700 hours.

The post-holder may be required to take part in an on-call rota, supporting critical systems and users for which an allowance will be paid.

Full details regarding this vacancy can be found in the attached Role Profile.

Applicants must be a British citizen, a member of the EU or other states in the EEA, a Commonwealth citizen or a foreign national free of restrictions.

You should also have been resident in the UK for a minimum of five years immediately prior to application.
