The DESC (Digital Evidence Sharing Capability) programme is a large scale, complex programme designed to be transformative in its ambition to modernise the Criminal Justice System in Scotland. Working in conjunction with a 3rd party market leading vendor and software solution the programme seeks to use technology to support the capture, storage, editing and sharing of Digital Evidence between and across CJ Partners. DESC is also regarded as a critical enabler for further change and transformation in this key area. The programme involves a range of Criminal Justice partners including Police Scotland, Scottish Government, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) and the Defence Community.

Additionally, you will provide excellent technical leadership, governance and vision in the design, development, programming, implementation, administration, support and maintenance of the full enterprise data systems infrastructure for the Police Scotland and SPA, in relation to in-house developed systems and, where required, 3rd party commercial of the shelf (COTS) systems.

As a successful Production DBA Lead you will be educated to degree level in a computing or software engineering discipline. You are required to have management experience gained in a national multi-site ICT environment, experience of designing, implementing and supporting enterprise data solutions, spanning multiple sites, expertise and experience in proposal, design and costing of large scale data projects, excellent knowledge of current technology best practice, future technology trends, updates and developments. Additionally, you should have excellent management, communication, planning and technical skills.
