The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is delighted to invite applications for the post of Firefighter (Control).

Our Firefighters (Control) are the first point of contact for our communities who require assistance from the Fire Service to attend fires, road traffic collisions, flooding and other natural disasters. These situations may be stressful for the callers requiring Firefighters (Control) to provide ongoing safety advice and emotional support during these calls.
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for the role of a Firefighter (Control) with the SFRS, ALL applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants MUST be aged 18 years or over at the time of submitting application
- Possess a minimum qualification of National 4 English or equivalent
- Possess excellent keyboard skills and have the ability to utilise Microsoft Office packages
- Have the ability to demonstrate exceptional communication skills, team-working and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Our selection process involves a number of stages, designed to assess your potential to carry out this challenging role and each step demands dedication and commitment. The whole process can take anything from 7 to 12 months. Whilst we will have vacancies across our three Control Rooms in Scotland, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who are interested in working within our Operations Control Room in Edinburgh.

This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults and children.
