The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have an excellent opportunity for a General Assistant based at Kilwinning Community Fire Station, on a temporary basis for an initial period of six months, subject to on-going review.
The role of General Assistant has responsibility for maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment by carrying out a broad range of cleaning and basic maintenance functions.
Day-to-day duties include; general cleaning duties, minor repairs and maintenance, basic labouring tasks and carrying out errands and porterage duties.
It is essential that you have previous experience within a similar role and environment. You must be able to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team and follow instructions. You must be committed to achieving and maintaining high standards, be reliable and trustworthy and promote safe and effective working practices at all times.
An awareness of Health and Safety Regulations and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) as they relate to cleaning materials would be desirable, as would relevant qualifications and experience of dealing with customers.
This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2003. Therefore the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
