The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) are delighted to invite applications for the role of Head of Service Delivery, East and North (2 posts). We would also welcome applications from candidates who wish to be held in a pool to be considered for future vacancies over the next 12 – 18 months.
As a strategic leader, you will support the Assistant Chief Officer (ACO) Director of Service Delivery in the safe and effective delivery of Fire and Rescue Services to the communities of Scotland.
You will work collaboratively with the SFRS Board, Strategic Leadership Team, Senior Management Team and other key national and local stakeholders; having a key role in delivering performance improvement strategies to meet SFRS strategic aims and objectives. As a strategic leader, you will lead by example and build on our culture of safety, teamwork, respect and innovation.
You will also provide an operational emergency response as part of the SFRS Flexi Duty Manager System (Level 4 Response). You will be required to attend incidents as the Incident Commander as dictated by the SFRS Incident Command System; as well as provide support and leadership to other Flexi Duty Managers in their Incident Command duties.
Applicants must currently be operating as a substantive and Competent Group Commander or above and hold a current and valid Incident Command Level 3 Competency or equivalent..

The selection process will include application shortlisting, psychometric assessments and a formal interview, which will be conducted as a virtual interview due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Successful candidates will require to complete an Incident Command Level 4 assessment prior to being confirmed in post.
The SFRS reserves the right to appoint and transfer individuals into alternative posts in order to meet the strategic objectives of the organisation. A pool of successful candidates who are not initially appointed will be held for a period of up to 18 months, following which the pool may be disbanded, in line with the needs of the SFRS.
