The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of ICT Senior Engineer (Infrastructure), on a flexible location (Johnstone, Hamilton, Newbridge, Dundee, Inverness) on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week, however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The Senior Engineer (Infrastructure)’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the ICT infrastructure and systems that support core organisational functions in line with the industry standard ITIL framework. This highly technical role has responsibility for the design and development, implementation, monitoring, support and optimisation of the SFRS internal and external server infrastructure and their associated systems. To install, administer and optimise organisation servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising all networked software and associated operating systems. The post holder will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximise the benefit of ICT infrastructure and systems investments. The ICT Senior Engineer (Infrastructure) will deputise for the ICT Team Manager (Infrastructure) as required.
The successful candidate should have Extensive technical experience in the development, implementation, monitoring, support and optimisation of servers, storage, hosting, Cloud and backup technologies and their associated systems. Candidates should hold a valid MCSE (server) level certification or equivalent.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
