The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Vocational Apprenticeship Co-ordinator, based in Hamilton on a temporary basis.

 

This is a 17-month opportunity and a full-time post working 35 hours per week.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Vocational Apprenticeship Co-ordinator to join our Vocational and Apprenticeship team. We need someone who is passionate about supporting Apprentices, Assessors and Verifiers and can build great working relationships with internal training teams and external stakeholders.

 

You should have a good understanding of Modern Apprenticeship Programmes and the quality assurance systems needed by an approved centre. Ideally you should have, or be working towards your L&D 9D1 Assessor and L&D 11 Verifier Award qualifications (or equivalent). The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Represent the Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) as the head of Centre for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Awards.
  • Proactively lead, promote and manage the SFRS’s SQA Approved Centre, Vocational Qualifications and Apprenticeship Programmes
  • Lead and enable all aspects of the SFRS SQA Approved Centre, Vocational and Apprenticeship programme process as well as SFRS Workplace Assessment policy, procedure and practice
  • Lead the quality assurance and internal verification of SVQ and workplace assessors. To develop and support the assessment of practice for relevant staff within the SFRS by confirming competence

                                                                                                                                                                                The post will work in partnership with a range of external bodies including but not limited to SQA Centre and Internal and External Verification colleagues, Skills Development Scotland Apprenticeship Programme stakeholder and Skills for Justice Quality partners.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

 

This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
