The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is offering an exciting opportunity to join our team and become a Wholetime Firefighter.

Our ambition is to attract and recruit the very best people who are drawn from all walks of life, representing our diverse communities – to work together for a safer Scotland.

In other words we want people like you.

If you have never considered a career with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service before, then perhaps it is time to think again . . . . .

CAREER AND BENEFITS

We don’t just fight fire. We respond to a whole range of emergencies such as flooding and rescue from height.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has an equally important role in prevention – reaching out to assist and support people to stay safe.

Firefighters sit at the very heart of their communities.

They carry out vital home safety checks for families and in particular the vulnerable. They also work with our children in schools, through youth groups and engage with the elderly through strong partnership working with voluntary organisations and healthcare partners.

The SFRS has worked to significantly reduce the number of fires, but Scotland faces new and emerging risks.

We are involving our people and our communities in the expansion of the Firefighter role to meet those risks which include severe weather related flooding and a growing elderly population increasingly calling on our support to stay safe.

A career in the SFRS is wide and varied with excellent learning and promotional opportunities, a competitive salary and attractive pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement and a range of family friendly policies - including those that promote a work life balance.

Our staff have access to gym facilities, health and wellbeing services and a wide range of employee benefits.
