We are looking for talented Audit Officers who are passionate about making sure that public services are run efficiently and effectively to join our Performance Audit and Best Value team.
The posts can be located in one of our centrally located offices, either in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Both are 10 minutes walk from a train station.

How can you help us...

As an Audit Officer within our Performance Audit and Best Value (PABV) team, you can look forward to delivering performance audits on issues such as Scotland’s new financial powers, health and social care integration, broadband and higher education in Scotland’s universities. You will also be involved in Best Value audits of councils, annual reports on the performance of the NHS, local government and colleges and dealing with correspondence from a range of stakeholders, including members of the public. You enjoy working in audit teams and communicating with key stakeholders.
The role is challenging, but we will support you every step of the way and we are confident that you will find it both rewarding and career-enhancing.
The role will involve some travelling. It may involve occasional overnight stays and unsocial hours.

Application Information

Specific knowledge and experience...

You are educated to degree level (management, research or professional qualification) or have demonstrable, relevant experience plus a good understanding and experience of:

• the Scottish public sector
• Microsoft Office or a similar package
• developing and maintaining statistical packages
• methodologies associated with evaluating financial and service performance as well as other types of scrutiny
• using performance management to assess and improve public services
• strong research, data gathering and analytical skills
• maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and effective team-based working
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• taking personal responsibility for your time management and delivery of high quality work
• taking responsibility for your personal development in order to perform effectively and set an example to others around you
