We’re looking for a talented Web and Digital Officer who can help ensure our website operates as effectively as possible and that, as a key interface of Audit Scotland, it looks professional and modern. Audit Scotland's website and intranet have become integral communications tools for distributing information to our clients, stakeholders and staff. As Web and Digital Officer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Audit Scotland’s online presence, including the website and sub-sites, digital media and search engine optimisation.

We’re Scotland’s public-sector auditor, responsible for ensuring that the Scottish Government and public-sector bodies are held to account for the proper, efficient and effective use of public money. We employ around 300 exceptional professionals from different backgrounds who believe that public money should be spent wisely. We know our important work makes a real difference to the lives of Scotland’s people.

Our Communications Team of 13 design, web and media professionals embraces fresh thinking, new ways of working and high standards. They make a real difference to Audit Scotland’s business impact, and are recent winners of the CIPR Scotland’s public sector communications team of the year award. It’s both a great team and a great organisation to be part of.

Our Edinburgh office is within walking distance of both Haymarket and Waverley stations, and offers a modern and open environment in which to work.

We value simplicity and purpose in our work and our people have the autonomy to make a difference in their work. Check us out – we think you’ll like who we are, what we value and our dedication to help ensure Scotland works well for all of the people that live here.

How can you help us?

We are looking to recruit a Web and Digital Officer on a full-time, permanent basis. The right candidate will understand the importance of ensuring the website operates efficiently and delivers the organisation’s messages effectively. You will manage our content management system for our growing library of publications, and look at ways of improving the service we offer to stakeholders through data analytics and new technology.

The three key areas you will identify with are:

· Technical knowledge: you have an excellent understanding of, and practical experience with, content management systems, preferably Drupal.

· Working collaboratively: you will be able to communicate with all parts of the business in ways everyone comprehends and you understand the importance of fast decisions.

· Delivery: you take ownership of projects and can manage own time effectively. You will work with the design team to meet publication deadlines.

Specific Knowledge and experience...

· Experience of using web content management systems, preferably Drupal.

· Experience of managing a website with multiple content contributors.

· A strong understanding of website hierarchies, SEO best practice, web development standards, and web accessibility and usability.

· Good knowledge of HMTL and CSS. Working knowledge of Javascript and PHP.

· At least three years’ experience working in a similar role for a comparable organisation.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate with a technical and non-technical audience.

· Good time management skills and ability to prioritise and organise own workload and meet publishing deadlines.

· Work with a close-knit team and take an active part in planning and discussions.
