Ayrshire Council on Alcohol provides an alcohol counselling and recovery service to individuals (whether they wish to stop drinking or reduce the amount that they drink) and their families in South & East Ayrshire.

We are looking to recruit an individual to provide a specialist alcohol counselling service for referrals received from the South Ayrshire Justice Services team regarding individuals who are experiencing difficulties in relation to alcohol and their offending behaviour.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within Justice Services with individuals who have been asked to address their alcohol related issues and behaviour via a Court Order or as part of their agreed action plan.

Candidates should hold a counselling qualification, minimum COSCA Cert Counselling Skills and ideally have some experience or knowledge of working with individuals who have an alcohol and/or drug problem.

Good communication skills, an understanding of confidentiality, excellent case recording /report writing skills and the ability to build positive relationships is essential, as is a non-judgemental approach. Flexibility and the willingness to work some evening hours will be required. Basic computer skills would be desirable.
