As communications lead, you will be responsible for developing and managing both our internal and external communications strategy. You will have the opportunity to be at the heart of delivering our organisational vision and our change agenda.

The role is critical in enabling and supporting communications relating to our commitment to reform, delivery of ‘The promise’ and children’s rights, care and justice. You will have the opportunity to be at the centre of delivering hearings system re-design and bringing the internal volunteer community with us on a journey of significant transformational change. Your insight and vision will be crucial in helping to win hearts and minds through this change process and facilitating their engagement and feedback. Key Responsibilities

· Develop and embed our communications policy and strategy to support our strategic ambitions

· Promote a consistent brand across all communications, ensuring colleagues are trained and supported in corporate style/brand guidelines

· Lead and manage internal / external communication plans

· Management and development of our internal communications tools (MS TEAMS)

· Creative input and development of national campaigns

Our Communications team

Our communications team comprises currently of an in-house graphic designer, communications officer and the communications lead. The role of the team is to engage with our 3,000 strong volunteer community, and to raise the profile of who we are and what we do. We live and breathe our vision, mission and values, and the team is passionate about delivering quality, creative communications. You will lead this small and dynamic team while collaborating with other departments and teams across the wider organisation.


Life at CHS

Our 2,500 volunteer Panel Members take part in children’s hearings in their local areas, making decisions with and for infants, children and young people. Our organisation also supports a network of 22 Area Support Teams made up of 400 volunteers who support Panel Members in their local communities.
