Would you like to work with remarkable colleagues and meet extraordinary children and families? Would you like to be part of a team providing a flexible and responsive service, whilst delivering holistic person centred palliative care to babies, children and young people, in their own homes?

This is a really exciting time to join Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS – Scotland’s national children’s hospice service. Our multidisciplinary team of staff and volunteers share an authentic passion for delivering the highest possible standard of care to babies, children, young people and their families.

Following the reconfiguration of our services in response to the Pandemic, we currently have a Bank Senior Nursing Support Worker vacancy in our CHAS at Home team based in Aberdeen. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Support Worker to join our compassionate and skilled team to provide respite and end of life care for children and families in their own homes.

You will work as part of our dynamic outreach team combining specialist palliative care with making precious memories and moments of joy through play, arts and crafts, outdoor activities and new experiences; ensuring that no matter how short a family’s time together may be, it is a time filled with happiness and fun.

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and creative Bank Senior Nursing Support Worker with experience of working in a Health, Social or Child Care setting. You will have the skills to assist in the delivery of nursing care to babies, children and young people, and have the ability to adapt the care you provide to meet the individual needs of families.

Qualifications and Experience

You will be educated to SVQ level 3/ have a HNC in Health, Social or Child Care or be able to evidence equivalent experience. You will have relevant knowledge of care procedures and clinical observations and the ability to work confidently with IT in a care setting. As well as being a good communicator, able to work co-operatively with colleagues, you will also be an innovative thinker, self-motivated and committed to your own learning and development.

Be part of our ambition

At CHAS, staff and volunteers work together as one team, focused on the common goal of reaching every family in Scotland who needs our support. We have a 3:1 ratio of volunteers to staff members in CHAS. All CHAS staff will at some point work with or alongside volunteers and will be expected to support volunteers.

Our ambition is to reach every family in Scotland who is living with the heartbreaking prognosis that their child is dying, and offer them our care and support to empower them to make the most of the short time they have together. As a Senior Nursing Support Worker, you will be instrumental in achieving this vision and shaping the future of CHAS.

More information about the position can be found in the attached job description and person specification.
