Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) are especially excited to be seeking two experienced full time, permanent cooks to join our team at a time when our kitchen will undergo a major transformation and upgrade in 2020.


Robin House in Balloch is a children’s hospice and a 'home from home' for families using our service. It has a range of facilities including a hydro pool and art room, and at the heart of our hospice is our catering facility. The catering team consists of staff and volunteers who all take enormous pride in the food and baking they produce for the children, families and staff.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist the Catering Team Leader in the planning and implementing of food menus for the hospice
  • Undertake the preparation and cooking of food, the service of meals and washing up of the kitchen
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment in accordance with legal and organisational standards
  • Work alongside volunteers, kitchen assistants and housekeepers and actively support their work


About You


Do you have catering qualifications, an exceptional cooking ability to produce delicious food, and a strong team-work ethic? If you can answer YES to all of these points, then we want to hear from you!

To be considered for this post, you must have the following:



  • Catering related qualification to City & Guilds Level (7061 & 7062) or equivalent.
  • Food hygiene certificate (ideally intermediate certificate).
  • Appropriate working knowledge of HACCP, CookSafe and health and safety within the workplace.
  • Significant experience preparing varied and nutritious meals within a catering environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify with the CHAS core values, vision and purpose.
