£19,987 - £23,575 Based on qualifications and experience - across Lanarkshire

Joanne had been struggling with her mental health for around 4 years when COVEY first started working with her. Her son had not been to school during this time, he was not sleeping at night and Joanne was home schooling. COVEY provided Joanne with weekly support to get out and about - she had not been out socially for the 4 years that her son was struggling. COVEY staff have supported Joanne and her son to get to GP and specialist appointments, allowing a diagnosis to be made for her son of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Joanne is now getting out socially and her son is suitably medicated. Joanne’s son is also being supported by COVEY to transition into a high school where his needs will be met. Joanne will continue to be supported to make some time for herself, safe in the knowledge that her son is attending school, being educated, and mixing with his peers. Through COVEY’s support Joanne feels more confident in her parenting role, and her relationship with her son has improved greatly.

Could you support a family like this? Are you passionate about supporting children and their families to overcome challenges and to live happy and fulfilled lives?

COVEY are seeking passionate, professional, proactive and caring individuals who will fully embrace the COVEY values of Respect, Openness, Commitment, Innovation and Passion.

The families we support are often overwhelmed and may be experiencing challenges in their everyday lives such as loneliness and isolation, poor mental health, illness, disability, multiple births, poverty, gender based violence, separation, or trauma. We provide 1:1 and/or group support to families in their home and community.

COVEY are looking for experienced and passionate Support Workers to join our Family Support team. The successful candidates will provide tailored support to parent/carers and also those they care for, where appropriate.

It is essential you have:

  • A thorough understanding of the complexities of working with families and the barriers and issues which they may face within their lives;
  • Highly motivated and able to maintain a case load;
  • The attention to detail necessary to ensure excellent case recording and reporting;
  • Strong administration, planning and organisational skills;
  • Excellent at communicating, and
  • An understanding of the need for accountability and team working.

The focus of all our work is on building person-centred strengths-based relationships which involves the ability to quickly build rapport with a wide range of participants to ensure positive longer term outcomes for parent/carers and their children. Having lived experience of any of these issues would be an advantage. Experience of working with families who have complex issues, such as trauma, is highly desirable.

Working hours are generally through the week, with occasional evening and weekend work required. (Blended office-based/working from home)

Essential requirements:

· Hold a UK licence and have use of own vehicle (for access to work and delivery of sessions)
