Forth Valley Advocacy is an independent advocacy service PROMOTING the rights, freedom and dignity of vulnerable people, SUPPORTING people to have their say and DEFENDING disadvantaged people from abuse and exploitation.

We are looking for motivated and dedicated individuals who share the aims and objectives of Forth Valley Advocacy and the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (SIAA) to join our volunteer Board of Directors. You will join us at an exciting time as we start the strategic planning both to deliver the new contract for the provision of independent advocacy services in Forth Valley and seek to develop new projects and funding opportunities to ensure the sustainable future of the organisation.

You will share collective responsibility for setting our goals, ensuring that we bring benefit to the community and meet our legal and financial obligations. You will ensure our professional team, led by our Chief Executive Officer, continues to provide high quality independent advocacy to our Advocacy Partners, supporting them to have their voices heard and their rights protected.

We are interested in people from all walks of life to bring fresh thinking, skills and knowledge to our organisation. At present a number of skills are under-represented on the Board and we would particularly welcome applications from people with the following background or experience:

· The Health and Social Care Sector

· Independent Advocacy

· Business Development

· Strategic Planning

· Human Resources

At present our office base is in Larbert but hybrid working arrangements are currently in place and Board meetings are being held in the evenings on MS Teams. The Board meets a minimum of 6 times a year. It is hoped that new Board members can join us at our Strategy day in early February.

Application notes

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter in Word format stating why you are interested in joining the Board and what skills and experiences you can offer to recruitment@forthvalleyadvocacy.com.

All Board members must also become members of Forth Valley Advocacy.

Closing date: 23.59, Tuesday 4 January 2022

Interview date: Mid/end January by MS Teams

Informal enquiries are welcome and can be made to Ann Landels, recruitment@forthvalleyadvocacy.com

Diversity and Inclusion

Forth Valley Advocacy is committed to equal opportunities and anti-discrimination practices and we positively encourage applications from all sections of the community. We are particularly interested in attracting applications from applicants from diverse and under-represented groups.
