The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of a team comprising Valuers, Trainee Valuers and Technical staff who undertake the survey and valuation of non-domestic and/or domestic properties for the purpose of maintaining the Valuation Roll and Council Tax Valuation List respectively. A key aspect is the ability to defend valuations, negotiate with appellants or their representatives, prepare appeal cases and appear as an expert witness before Valuation Tribunals.

Applicants should be Chartered Surveyors (F/MRICS) with extensive experience in the survey and valuation of commercial and/or residential property and have the ability to organise and motivate a multi-discipline team in all aspects of relevant activities. Applicants should be computer literate and have excellent communication and team working skills together with an enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible approach to work.

The successful applicant will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Grampian this is normally undertaken by use of a car. Annual leave may be restricted during certain times of the year such as election and revaluation periods. You may be required to work additional hours during busy periods, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Whilst the posts would normally be office based, our staff are currently enabled for hybrid home/office working in line with the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 guidelines.
