What is the Job Function?

As part of the Education Team, based at Kibble’s Skills Academy, and other external work bases, you will take a lead role in supporting young people to gain experience, knowledge and qualifications in trade skills with a focus on Painting and decorating.

Main Duties:

  • To provide instruction in painting and decorating skills.
  • To prepare course work / resource materials.
  • To liaise with Education Manager in assessing, recording and reporting on the work of young people.
  • To maintain and promote positive work ethics and standards amongst young people.
  • To safeguard the health and safety of all young people and staff.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Depute Head Teacher.

  • What qualifications and experience are we looking for?

· Painter/Decorator with relevant trade experience and qualifications.

· Experience in youth training and working with young people is essential.

· GTCS registration is desirable, but not essential.

· Demonstrating a clear commitment to continuing professional development, for example, studying towards a qualification in or relating to additional support needs.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Possess a full driving licence, and be willing and able to drive school transport.

Safe Crisis Training (SCM)

Successful candidates will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. Please see note section below (4) for further information.

3. The successful candidate will be subject to PVG Scheme Membership. Having previous convictions will not automatically disbar you from working at Kibble (with the exception of offences against children or other vulnerable groups) and every case is taken on an individual basis.


4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice.

The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training in full within four weeks of an agreed start date. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional two weeks will be given to pass.

5. Appointments will be subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
