Tayside Procurement Project - Fixed term contract for up to 12 months

Scotland Excel is the Centre of Procurement Expertise for local government in Scotland. Established in 2008, we are a multi-award winning, non-profit making organisation, delivering innovative procurement solutions for the public sector. Over the past twelve years, we have helped to raise the profile of procurement by championing its potential to shape markets, support policy priorities and, ultimately, ensure the sustainable delivery of services that every community needs.

In 2018, we published our new strategic plan, detailing our vision for the next five years. Our plan sets out an ambitious agenda to further grow our organisation, supporting local authorities and other public sector organisations as they face increasing financial pressures and rising demand for services.

Our contract portfolio worth around £2bn covers a wide range of areas including social care, construction, roads, transport, environment, corporate, education and ICT. As a Centre of Procurement Expertise, Scotland Excel also delivers learning and development, change management and consultancy services.

About the role

The Tayside Procurement Project involves Scotland Excel working with a collaborative group consisting of Dundee City Council, Perth & Kinross Council and Angus Council and other local partner organisations, to provide a customer centric transformation programme. We are keen to build on our wider sector knowledge, good practice and experience and utilise our approach to bring commercial excellence to these organisations.

As a Procurement Coordinator, you will use your knowledge of one or more of these areas to support the development and management of innovative sourcing strategies and procurement solutions that deliver value to our customers. Your exceptional stakeholder engagement skills will strengthen relationships with our customers and your commercial approach will maximise the value delivered by our suppliers. Your highly organised approach and leadership ability will get the best from colleagues working with you to deliver collaborative contracts.

In return, you will have the opportunity to progress your career in a leading procurement organisation operating across a diverse range of category areas. You will work with friendly, like-minded colleagues who get real satisfaction from supporting the delivery of essential public services and bringing social, economic and environmental benefits to our communities.

As well as a competitive salary, you will have access to all the benefits of working for a public sector organisation including a defined benefits pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, flexible working and a range of other initiatives which reflect our commitment to creating a positive work-life balance for all our employees.

We welcome applications from candidates with disabilities and guarantee an interview to those candidates who meet the essential requirements for the position. If you have a disability, please make us aware of it in your covering letter.

The fixed term post may also be available as secondment opportunities for existing local government/public sector employees, subject to the agreement of your employer.
