An opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join our central finance team based in SPS Headquarters (HQ) in the Gyle Business Park, Edinburgh. The post may also have the opportunity for home working.

About the role:

· As a Management Accountant you will be responsible for the co-ordination and support of the annual financial planning cycle including co-coordinating submissions and reviewing financial plans.

· You will undertake detailed analysis of in-year budgets and ensure that monthly submissions are accurate and up-to-date. You will also have responsibility for supporting the Senior Management Accountant with management reporting requirements and for completing regular financial submissions for Scottish Government.

· You will provide guidance and support to Finance Managers across the SPS as well as budget holders. This could include providing advice on budgeting and forecasting outturns, financial planning or capital accounting.

· You will assist with the completion of statutory accounts and work to IFRS accounting standards, policies and procedures.

· You will also have line management responsibility for the Assistant Management Accountant

About you:

· You will be a current member of a recognised professional body such as ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA. If you are not a current member, you will be in the final stages of achieving full qualification with relevant financial experience.

· You will have experience of coordinating and managing budgets with ability to scrutinise and challenge financial plans where necessary, and have the confidence to provide guidance and advice to others in respect of financial policy and procedures

· You will have excellent people management skills and experience of acting as a manager within a finance function

· You will be an effective planner who has ability to manage competing priorities and meet organisational deadlines

· Experienced in producing statutory accounts in line with IFRS standards

· Have technical experience of using financial accounting systems with the ability to interrogate, evaluate and report on financial information effectively. You will also have experience of using Excel at an advanced level.
