This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Organisational Development and Design with proven organisational development (OD) leadership and expertise to drive transformation in workforce change, organisational culture and employee engagement.

This is a new role and offers the opportunity to lead on strategic workforce planning, resourcing and workforce development to ensure employee capacity and capability is used fully and effectively. It will support the SSSC to define and implement corporate organisational development and learning and development strategies, plans and policies which are aligned with and facilitate the delivery of the organisation’s Strategic Plan.

About the role

You will lead the development and implementation of SSSC wide OD systems and processes, including releasing potential and managing talent, developing management and leadership capability and embedding values and behaviours into all people processes and systems.

You will manage the delivery of a proactive and customer focused Organisational Development (OD) and Employee Development (ED) function across SSSC, developing the service to meet current and future business needs through working in partnership with managers and leaders to develop progressive OD/ED projects systems and initiatives.

About you

As an already experienced HR/OD professional and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, you will have led and delivered a range of OD interventions with proven organisational benefit, be experienced in developing relationships across HR and OD to ensure the delivery of strategic outcomes and have a fundamental understanding of the impact of organisational culture on engagement and performance along with significant experience of influencing cultural change.

You will be educated to degree level in organisational development or a similar subject and will have a proven track record and experience of:

  • Organisational development and design expertise including designing and delivering bespoke learning and development initiatives.
  • Experience of the set up, design and implementation of OD processes and services within a complex organisation including business and operating model design, technological change and programme implementation.
  • Deliver a variety of leadership and management development, talent management and succession planning interventions.
  • Experience of managing teams across diverse disciplines, including matrix management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Able to generate insight from quantitative and qualitative data and evidence.
  • Be able to take an analytical approach to business performance measures, linking productivity and utilisation indicators with people metrics.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to multi-task.
  • Networking skills to build strong professional relationships and credibility quickly.
  • Project management and reporting skills eg planning, organising and then management of the resources required to complete projects of varying complexity.
  • Effective IT skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel.
