About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Performance and Improvement department as the Performance and Intelligence Manager.

You will lead an intelligence and performance service to provide insights and enhance performance and improvement within Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), and beyond, by producing intelligence and performance data that helps the organisation, and others, make the right decisions.

You will also lead on coordinating and embedding quality management approaches to drive improvement, change, encourage innovation and support the organisation to develop and measure delivery of strategic and operational business plans.

Who we are

We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social work, social care and early years services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.

We protect the public by registering social work, social care and early years workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and take action.

What you need to succeed

We are looking for an experienced team manager with:

  • Ability to create and sustain an innovative, professional and customer-focused team.
  • Significant experience supporting the implementation of strategic and business plans by delivering and coordinating organisational change priorities.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement from business intelligence and networking opportunities.
  • Experience of systematically managing and coordinating change initiatives or projects from inception to delivery.
  • Experience of using a range of quality management and improvement methodologies, tools and techniques (e.g. LEAN Six Sigma) to support and deliver complex change across an organisation.
  • Ability to operate with appropriate impact and influence, and the experience of managing a range of stakeholders and delivering to tight timescales.

Why work for us

We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With around 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service). Please note new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

You can find out more about the benefits of working here on our website.

Our office is in Dundee but we encourage remote working. We are developing our agile working policy and are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working as an option, depending on job requirements (such as being in the office for training events and meetings) and meeting the eligibility criteria determined by the new policy. We welcome applications from candidates outside Dundee and the surrounding areas.

Living in Dundee

Scotland’s sunniest city, Dundee is the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design and made Lonely Planet’s top 10 European hotspots in 2018 for its growing cultur al scene and the transformation of the city’s historic waterfront. Dundee also made the National Geographic 2019 ‘must see cool list’.

Our offices are on the banks of the River Tay, right at the heart of the redesigned waterfront, close to the railway station and bus links and on the Green Circular cycle path, which goes right around the city.

We are next door to the new V&A Dundee and Captain Scott’s famous ship, RRS Discovery, built here in 1900. The city is a great shopping destination, surrounded by many eateries and bars. It is also rich in scenery with lovely beaches and parks.

We believe that the SSSC and Dundee offer a great place to begin or expand your career.
