About the role

We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for an articulate and committed Health and Safety Manager to join our experienced Operational Management team in Glasgow. This position will play a leading role in ensuring the continuous improvement of health and safety across the site and will be responsible for developing and maintaining Safety Management systems.

The successful Health and Safety Manager will report to the Director of Operations and hold responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety related matters, ensuring a safe and quality service provision for service users and the staff who support them.

This diverse role requires a confident and experienced Health and Safety Manager who has previously reviewed strategy, has ability to identify areas for improvement and previously worked within a multi-site organisation. The requirement is to provide technical and legal advice, guidance and training ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Legislation.

On a regular basis, you will advise colleagues and stakeholders on health and safety issues, actively identify areas for improvement and contribute to plans aimed at reducing the occurrence of incidents. You will ensure that teams are proactive, up to date and comply with current health, safety and environmental legislation, best practice and company standards. You will assist with the investigation of incidents to establish the root cause and preventative measures, develop and maintain a `continuous improvement` ethos.

What you need to succeed

You will have significant experience of working in a Health and Safety environment, hold a strong knowledge of safety management whilst creating and leading change.

Experience of leading operational and strategic initiatives is vital to the role, alongside having experience in business planning and project management. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and have a real passion for safety.

We want to find a committed, ambitious individual, with a hands-on approach and a keen eye for detail. You’ll be personable, able to build and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll need:

  • Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. (MIOSH), or working towards membership (Grad IOSH).
  • Relevant Health and Safety Qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on health and safety and risk management issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health and safety risk management.
  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience in a Health and Safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of IT and HR systems, ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Packages for data entry, reports and project work.
