PlayTalkRead is a Scottish Government Early Years campaign aimed at promoting positive parenting in order to give children the best start in life and a strong platform for healthy growth, development and attainment.

Mobile Play Worker Drivers - regular travel across Scotland with additional days at the Edinburgh office

FT £20,400 – £22,450 (261 days including some weekends)

We are seeking Mobile Play Worker Drivers for the PlayTalkRead Roadshow, which visits all 32 local authorities in Scotland, travelling the length and breadth of the country from rural to urban communities and delivering play sessions from our fleet of specially converted play buses. You will inspire and support parents and carers to interact with their babies and little ones through fun, simple and inexpensive activities. You will be part of the team responsible for driving the play buses to and from locations across Scotland. Full training will be given.

The ideal candidate will have a range of experience working with children and families and delivering play, song and story sessions. They will be able to engage parents and carers and have a good understanding of the importance of the early years in a child’s development. They will be a confident driver and willing to undertake training to drive our fleet of vehicles including a double-decker bus, converted box van and sensory truck.

They will have a flexible approach to work and be enthusiastic and self-motivated with an upbeat, positive personality and be a strong team player. The successful candidate will be delivering activities throughout Scotland and weekend work will be required. You must be comfortable with travelling extensively and working away from home on a regular basis.

Candidates must be over 21 years old and have held a Category B UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years and have their own car.
