We have an exciting opportunity for an Information Governance Officer to join our busy Legal & Property team.

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Executive, the post holder, in consultation with legal colleagues, will have key responsibility for preparing and supporting GDPR-compliant policies, robust Information Management processes and practices throughout SPT, as well as being the main point of contact for Records Management purposes ensuring compliance with statutory Information Governance responsibilities, including Data Protection and supporting colleagues with Freedom of Information as well as managing SPT’s complaints process.

About You

Our ideal candidate should be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual, you will have excellent communication skills both orally and written. You will have up-to-date experience of and knowledge of relevant Information Management and Data Protection practices and legislation. You may be a paralegal in this field or have the ability to demonstrate experience.

The key responsibilities of the role are set out in the role description and include:

  • In consultation with the Assistant Chief Executive, develop, implement and deliver an effective information governance strategy which ensures the organisation is fully compliant with the requirements of Public Records Management, legislation, Freedom of Information, the GDPR and all associated information governance legislation.
  • In consultation with the Assistant Chief Executive, to develop and implement robust procedures and practices across SPT in relation to the collection, storage, retention, sharing and destruction of information and records, including being the system owner of the information management system.
  • To act as the project owner and project manage the effective introduction of digital solutions supporting robust Information Governance arrangements.

Full time hours will be 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday although you may be required to work flexibly and out with these hours to meet operational needs. Part time applications are welcome.
