Sustrans Scotland has an exciting opportunity for you to join us and influence real change in Scotland, to help drive our vision forward, a vision of a more sustainable future in transport that has never been more relevant.

As the National Cycle Network Planning Manager, you will ensure a year-on year pipeline of future infrastructure in line with both the UK Paths for Everyone Vision and our ambitious 30 Year Network Plan for Scotland. Critical to our success in Scotland is also aligning our work with the active travel policy goals of the Scottish Government.

You will be responsible for the ongoing development and roll-out of the National Cycle Network Plan in Scotland, reporting and tracking our progress.

You will report to the Head of Network Development & Co-Design (Scotland) and lead a small team of people tasked with delivering and commissioning route development activities and ensuring stewardship and management of the project pipeline database.

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people in third sector organisations, communities, local authorities and professional bodies.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. We offer hybrid working, a mix of time in our hubs and at home and flexible hours to suit individual circumstances, candidates will be expected to travel on occasion to one of our hubs in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

You will be an experienced leader who motivates their team, building relationships with ease, bringing with you experience of working cross-organisationally and across multiple sectors.

Using your experience in working with large data sets, you will gather, analyse and report on multiple data sets to inform and influence the development of the Network Plan.

With demonstrable experience of delivering infrastructure projects; you will ideally have working a background within the transport, transport consultancy or the construction sectors. Your knowledge of local and regional transport planning authorities and processes in Scotland will help you advocate for sustainable transport and better places across the region.

You must be a skilled communicator with excellent negotiating skills, as you will play a key role in overseeing contracts and agreements with delivery partners and external contractors; in house commissioning and tendering as well as advising our land and estate management operations.
