This is a temporary post for 6 months.


Main Function

  • ​​​​​​To research and develop cutting-edge dementia service provision in accordance with the Strategic Plan.
  • To develop and support the implementation of the dementia strategy through a partnership approach involving professionals and organisations with a national role in dementia development.
  • To coordinate and facilitate the delivery of an effective programme of specialist dementia training courses.
  • Through Christian leadership, ensure that all Dementia Development work of CrossReach reflects its Christian ethos and mission statement.


Main Duties

  1. To maintain current knowledge of developments in dementia care based on evidence based practice/research.
  2. To engage in research activities, producing journal articles that have potential to influence dementia care practice in agreement with the Director, Older Peoples Services (OPS).
  3. To assist staff to understand, uphold and communicate the Christian Ethos of CrossReach.
  4. To represent and promote dementia services and the wider work of CrossReach at conferences and seminars.
  5. Organise and chair meetings with various stakeholders including CrossReach staff.
  6. Produce written reports for Committees and Groups.
  7. Provide feedback to and be involved in dementia managers meetings.
  8. Liaise with managers re development/training needs of staff groups or individual staff.
  9. Develop, coordinate and deliver specialist dementia training.
  10. To develop original research based dementia specific training packages which comply with Scottish Vocational Qualifications Standards.
  11. Promote best practice in line with Organisational and National Care Standards and current legislation.
  12. Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organisation through membership of the dementia team and involvement in the strategic planning process.
  13. Production of an Annual Report and Strategic Plan for activities relevant to the post.
  14. Be involved in new service development as requested by the OPS Senior Management Team
  15. To respond to internal and external requests for dementia input which will originate through the OPS Senior Management Team.


GENERAL

  1. Supervise the Dementia Development Officer.
  2. Through supervision identify any training needs to enable you to perform to required standard for the role of Dementia Development Officer.
  3. Produce a Development Plan in line with your manager.
  4. Keep abreast of current issues and developments relevant to the service through reading and attendance at conferences/training courses.
  5. To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including by the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.


Qualifications

Essential:

To have an SVQ Level 4 in Social Care or equivalent nursing or social work qualification. Completion of the Post Graduate in dementia is a requirement for this post and will be completed within an agreed timescale.
