About Us

Key was set up by a group of passionate, committed families with a vision for their sons and daughters to live full lives at the heart of their local communities. We are proud that some of these families remain involved with Key and that our organisation continues to be shaped by the experiences of families and people with disabilities.

From our beginnings as a housing association we have evolved into a modern, dynamic organisation whose primary focus is delivering high quality, personalised support to people in their own homes and communities.

We continue to have a housing function which manages a number of properties across 15 Scottish local authorities. You can read more about our housing work in the Key Housing section of this website. And in Glasgow, Key delivers support in partnership with our subsidiary organisation Community Lifestyles. Find out more about the Community Lifestyles and Key partnership here.

We work in close partnership with The Advisory Group (TAG), which was set up by Key in 1996 to enable people with learning disabilities to have a stronger voice in the services they use and their local communities. In 2012 TAG became an independent charity (SCIO). You can find out more about Key and TAG's partnership here.
