Castlebrae Community Campus is a non-denominational secondary school providing comprehensive education in the Craigmillar, Niddrie and Newcraighall areas of Edinburgh. Over the last five years the attainment of the school has risen by 84%. Its three associated Primary Schools are Castleview, Niddrie Mill and Newcraighall. The roll of the school at April 2024 is 496. We have recently moved into our new school building in the centre of the community. Our new building will transform learning and teaching experiences and provide innovative and inspirational spaces for our rapidly expanding community.

The catchment area is one of the most economically deprived in Edinburgh. The percentage of students who have registered free school meal entitlement is 42%. Pupils that are in Scottish Indicator of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) deciles 1 and 2 make up 81% of the school.

The teaching complement for Session 23/24 was 29.71 FTE, The Senior Management Team comprises of a Head Teacher (HT), two depute Head Teachers (DHT) and a Business Manager. The Leadership Team is made up of 7 Curriculum Leaders, 3 Pupil Support Leaders, a Support for Learning Leader and an IT Co-ordinator.

Castlebrae Community Campus is firmly committed to raising attainment and promoting achievement. We are looking for an experienced individual to join our Senior Leadership Team. Part of the role will involve support for our Ukrainian students., Teaching and Learning, Health and Safety and ICT strategy.

This is a whole school priority in the improvement plan and reflects local CEC and national priorities.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
