Early Years Assistant - Fixed term until 31/8/2024
Granton Primary School Nursery

Salary: £23,651 - £28,857 per year

Granton Primary and nursery class is a growing school in an area of multi-deprivation. We benefit from both Pupil Equity Funding and a Positive Action allocation.
We have a supportive Parent council and have developed good links with the community.
The Senior Leadership team consists of a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher and a part time Business Manager.

We currently operate a nursery with a staff team of one Senior Early Years Intervention Officer, two Senior Early Years Officers, twelve Early Years Practitioners and four Early Years Assistants, two Domestic Assistants and a Clerical Worker.

Early Years Assistants are required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of starting employment. They are also required to achieve an SCQF Level 2 Social Services for Children and Young People qualification within 5 years of being registered with the SSSC and this is funded by the early years service. There will be an opportunity for those who wish to progress to SCQF Level 3 to receive funding for this.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
