Early Years Officer - fixed term to 30/5/2025
Granton Early Years Centre

Salary: £30,751 - £36,312 per year
Hours: 33 per week, 52 weeks

Granton Early Years is a large, busy setting, with capacity for 64 children at any one time, attending various patterns of attendance between 8am and 6pm, 52 weeks per year. Our setting is staffed with a friendly, supportive, energetic and passionate team, following a Froebelian approach. Our environments are natural, warm and welcoming, with nurturing and rich spaces, both indoors and out.

We have developed an embracing ethos, where we work in partnership with our families in the spirit of community. We are actively connecting with others in the locality, to ensure Granton Early Years reflects the interests of our service users. We are situated next to the Community Centre and have access to the Community Garden, which is used regularly.

We work alongside excellent professionals in partnership, to ensure all children are supported to be the very best they can.

The service is now seeking to recruit a skilled, knowledgeable and creative Early Years Officer on a fixed term basis until the end of May 2025.

The successful post holder will be required to work shift patterns within the setting, between the hours of 07.45hrs and 18.00hrs, Monday-Friday, with the possibility of some late shifts on rotation, within each 36-hour week.

Please note - You must ensure that you have the required qualification(s) before you apply, so please refer the attached documentation for requirements, or we will be unable to consider your application.

For further information or to discuss the post, please contact Granton Early Years on 0131 552 4808.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
