Job Description

Place

Inspector
Waverley Court

Salary: £30,751 - £36,312 per year
Hours: 36 per week

The City of Edinburgh Council has a critical role to play in improving the safety for all travelling within our city, whilst also maximising the efficiency of our streets to better move people and goods.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Network Management and Enforcement for the permanent appointment of a performance driven Inspector, with significant customer service experience, to support the delivery and maintenance of a wide range of parking management schemes aimed at improving safety, reducing congestion and providing parking opportunities for a range of road users.

Fulfilling a key role within the Parking Development team, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic and will be able to progress a challenging and varied workload, with a primary focus on undertaking road inspections across the city and liaising directly with a broad range of customers.

Main activities will include undertaking road/carriageway site inspections (a full driving licence is essential), managing and dealing with customer interactions, succinctly recording and reporting findings to inform decision making, identifying process improvements and building and maintaining working relations with a range of multi-disciplinary colleagues and stakeholders at a range of seniority levels.

The successful candidate will be able to maintain high levels of accuracy, and to balance competing priorities in-order to meet challenging deadlines. They will have excellent written and verbal skills and will be experienced in successfully managing sometimes difficult customer interactions.

If you have the necessary skills, we would love to hear from you.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
