Job Description

Urban Designer

Salary: £37,589 to £ 44,934

Hours: 36 per week

We are looking for 3 Urban Designers to join the 20 Minute Neighbourhood Team.

Cities across the world have been adopting policies to promote localism as a means of tackling key strategic issues such as poverty, wellbeing, climate change and sustainability. The Business Plan: Our Future Council, Our Future City, proposes to “develop and support a network of ‘20-minute neighbourhoods’ where public transport and active travel are the best options for getting around and our streets are designed for people, supporting their local businesses.” This sits under Outcome 12 in the Business Plan: people can access the support they need in the place they live and work. The focus of the 20 minute neighbourhood should not be on the name or the number of minutes. We want to take an approach in place-making, that allows residents to travel short distances from home to most of the services they use day to day, shopping, education, community and healthcare.

This is an exciting programme working not only across the Council, but also with our partners and residents to make a real difference for our Communities.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases in line with our Performance Management.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
