Principal Teacher Additional Support for Learning (0.8FTE) (Temporary)

Principal Teacher Scale Point 3: £57,282 pro rata

 

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Principal Teacher, Additional Support for Learning (PT03) for 0.8fte on a fixed term basis, to the Supporting Learners Service in the East of the region.

The post holder will be based in Dumfries and have the desired personal qualities and skills to lead a resourced provision setting; Central Primary Inclusion Hub. You will be responsible for the strategic overview of inclusion outreach support in Nithsdale and the East of the region. The postholder will be required to work in partnership with appropriate agencies and families to support pupil need in creative and innovative ways. You will lead and manage a team of teaching and non-teaching staff who provide support for pupils with additional support needs.

 

Candidates should ideally have extensive teaching practice, leadership and management experience and experience of working with pupils with additional support needs. A professional knowledge of policy and practice relating to ASN would be advantageous.

This is a Temporay post from August 2024 to August 2025 and may be offered on a secondment basis with permission from your line manager.

 

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
