Wallyford Primary School SEBN Specialist Provision is one of a number of provisions within East Lothian which provide intensive support for children with social, emotional and behavioural needs to join the whole school team. The postholder will initially work within the Rainbow Room alongside a Behaviour Support Teacher and a team of Additional Support Needs Auxiliaries as well as school staff in supporting a small number of referred children within the school. This work will take place mainly within the Rainbow Room setting although there will be sessions within the classroom. The postholder will require to be flexible in approaches in order to meet the needs of the children as they arise.
East Lothian Council adopts the "Team Teach" system of de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies. This can culminate in the potential for physical restraint as a last resort. Training in "Team Teach" techniques will be provided to the successful applicant. Nursery Only: SSSC registration or agreement to register within 6 months from the date of appointment to this post is essential.
