We have an exciting opportunity for Roads Officers to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the delivery of active travel and sustainable transport options. This will include preparing reports and documentation to secure funding streams, the development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies relating to Roads and Transportation and working with schools to promote a cycling strategy and an active travel plan.
With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and clearly communicate with customers, contractors and other stakeholders.
The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.
It is expected that the individual will be suitably educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
