Job Description

The job holder must be motivated, reliable and have an understanding of core values which are fundamental to the outcomes of this role. The job holder will support to the physical, emotional and social needs of the service user and communicate daily changes in service user needs.

The role involves working as part of a team as well as being able to work using your own initiative.

An SVQ level II in Social Care is desirable as is practical experience working in a supportive role with clients delivering Individual Care Plans within a care home setting but not essential. You need to be able to work without direct supervision and have a mature and self-reliant approach with the ability to respond to unplanned situations in a calm and flexible manner.

Location: Various Locations in Midlothian (Newbyres Village care home, Highbank Intermediate care facility, Cherry Road Resource centre for adults with disabilities, Cowan Court Extra Care Housing)

Contract Status: Locum

Hours of Work: Casual Hours

Working Pattern: Flexible Hours

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that casual/locum applicants will always be on the first point on the salary scale.

The hourly rate for this position is from £11.29 depending on location.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.

 

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
