The Planning and Regeneration Team has a significant part to play in contributing to the development of the individual projects and supporting delivery through its policy and development management functions. We have a vacancy for a Planning Assistant/Officer within our Development Management Teams.  In this post you would be primarily based from home with attendance at an office base as required.  We offer the opportunity to start your career as a Planning Assistant and support you to develop to Planning officer level or you can join the service as a Planning Officer subject to meeting qualification and experience requirements.

As a Planning Assistant, you will assist in the processing of planning applications, monitoring and enforcement and contributing towards formulation and implementation of policy and projects.  You should have, or be working towards, a degree or diploma in Town Planning or a related discipline with experience of dealing with the public and have gained experience through this studying of a planning service or related working environment. 

At Planning Officer level, you will contribute to the development of Council strategies and policies, be involved in implementing planning projects and processing complex planning applications, appeals, and enforcement issues in North Lanarkshire.  To progress to the NLC10 Planning Officer grade, you must have the degree or Diploma in Town Planning with extended post-qualification experience.  A CMI level 2 or equivalent award in team leading is desirable.

Due to the geographical spread of work, you should be able to travel throughout North Lanarkshire and surrounding areas.

Part-time post is 17.5 hours per week, (work pattern to be confirmed)

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip.  You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
