Job Description

Based at Mill Street, Paisley.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Community Safety Service for a team of highly motivated individuals to become part of the new Environmental Taskforce. Officers will work under the Team Up to Clean Up banner, tasked with reducing flytipping and tackling environmental crime within Renfrewshire.

Duties will include proactive and reactive visits to hot-spot sites, searching through waste to ascertain source of flytipping, onsite investigations seeking witness evidence, arranging removal of waste alongside appropriate Council team and issuing flytipping and littering Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) . There will be close liaison with Environmental Health regarding back court issues, deploying and reviewing of mobile CCTV cameras (training provided) and working with other officers e.g. Senior Community Support Officers to report offences to the Procurator Fiscal.

Duty of Care visits will be undertaken to business premises to understand how their waste is dealt with, Officers will assist in Days of Action alongside SEPA/Police Scotland, support the Team Up to Clean Up Campaign responding to enquiries and directing information to appropriate Council Services. Officers will work closely with Household Waste Recycling Officers to follow up issues relating to commercial waste.

You must have excellent communication, reporting and excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to use your own initiative, work under pressure and contribute toward the delivery of targets and objectives set out for the service and contribute towards a continual improvement within the service. Driving License essential.
