Role Purpose

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Roads Service of Scottish Borders Council to appoint an Infrastructure manager. The post is a senior managerial and expert role within the Council, recognised as the senior lead for Asset Management, Network Management including road safety, and Street Lighting Infrastructure. The Council is progressing a significant transformation and change programme and this presents a significant opportunity for an individual to take up this post and bring new and innovative skills, knowledge and experience to our organisation which can help us respond to the agenda for change. This is a demanding and challenging post within the Council as the road network in the Borders is extensive and critical to the safe and efficient daily operation of society, providing critical lifeline infrastructure to our communities as well as those visiting and travelling through the Borders. We are facing significant funding challenges however we are also able to embrace new opportunities in roads and transport across the region which provide opportunities for the successful candidate to significantly influence how roads and related infrastructure is designed, improved and maintained for the future.
