Job Description

The aim of Social Work Resources is to promote social welfare and provide effective care and support to meet the needs of vulnerable people in South Lanarkshire.

In partnership with community planning partners, voluntary and independent provider organisations, we offer a range of services designed to enable, support, improve and protect the health and social care of people using our services.


Clydesdale Locality within South Lanarkshire covers the largest geographical area of 1,326.31 square kilometres (512.10 square miles) of the four Locality Areas. Although Clydesdale has several urban centres such a Lanark, Carluke, Lesmahagow, Biggar, Forth and Douglas, it is the most rural area of South Lanarkshire, where issues such as transport, access to services and rural deprivation can have a marked effect.

Clydesdale has a population of 61,671 of which 27% are aged 65 and over, with a higher percentage of aged 75 and over (9%)in comparison with the rest of South Lanarkshire which sits at 8.3%.

Given the local geography and demographic factors, Health and Social Work teams in Clydesdale were already working in partnership prior to the implementation of Health and Social Care integration. As such we have long established professional multi-agency working networks and processes that support our person-centred approach to supporting our vulnerable citizens.

The successful applicant will be part of Clydesdale Adult and Older People's Services Team based in Lanark. You will be responsible for ongoing case management allied to other statutory interventions designated within the role and dependant on individual experience, such as Self Directed Support, Adult Support and Protection and Adults with Incapacity Legislation and procedures. Regular formal supervision will be provided by your designated Team Leader on an 8 week rota with personal and professional development options discussed within a Behaviours Framework Approach bi-annually. Social Worker induction and ongoing learning is available with opportunities for career development in many areas.

All applicants must be registered with Scottish Social Services Council and hold a Degree in Social Work qualification or equivalent.
