Job Description

These positions are currently funded until 28th June 2022, at this time maybe extending pending a service review.

West Dunbartonshire Council have a number of temporary positions available for the role of Relief Cleaner across the authority’s 2 main areas of Alexandria & Dumbarton and Clydebank. 

Working Monday to Friday with contracts ranging from 14.25 hours up to 20 hours per week. We have a number of positions within Schools which offers Term Time contracts as well as our Office estate which offers 52 week contracts. Relief Cleaners work from a base location, but will also support other locations, in the local area, throughout the working week as required for service continuity within schools and offices.

The post holders will be responsible for the provision of a high quality, responsive cleaning service within a premise ensuring high standards are maintained while adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

Applications are invited from individuals who can offer availability across both day time and late afternoon work patterns. Applicants will be asked to select their preference according to their availability. Please note that whilst some degree of flexibility in working maybe considered the core cleaning times are as stated. 


This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
