Justice Assistant 36 hours per week Monday to Friday.

West Lothian Council Justice Services have an exciting opportunity to recruit a full time 2-year fixed term Justice Assistant to the Community Payback Order, Unpaid Work Team. This dynamic team is responsible for the supervision of Court Orders for all individuals made subject to an Unpaid Work requirement. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that individuals comply with the requirements of such Orders, including organising work placements, managing compliance and completion of reports to Court.

The successful candidate will be expected to promote compliance and engagement positively and be involved in the management of diverse, complex and challenging cases including high risk cases.

 The successful candidate must have:

  • Significant previous experience of direct service user contact in a Health, Social Care, or Justice setting.
  • Ability to work constructively with difficult and challenging people using authority appropriately.
  • Proven experience of working in partnership with other services.
  • Ability to understand and work within legislative and procedural frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate to a high standard in written and verbal form.

HNC/SVQ Level 3 in Social Care; HNC/SVQ for Health Support Workers or other relevant qualification at a similar or higher level is desirable.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
