The Senior Head of IT Operations role involves assisting the IT Director in managing all aspects of GCU’s information technology strategy and associated enabling plans, as well as managing and leading the day-to-day operations of the IT Department.  Additionally, the role holder will be responsible for ensuring our organisations operations and infrastructure are secure, reliable and meet the needs of the business and its users.  The Senior Head of IT Operations will work closely with other departments to understand their technology needs and feed this into the IT Projects Pipeline, while also managing vendors and contractors to ensure the delivery of quality services and products. This role is critical to the success of our organisation’s technology operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in the Education sector, delivering digital and online products and should have proven IT management experience, a strong delivery focus and business acumen. Strong stakeholder management will be key in this exciting role as well as having a “can do”, determined and innovative approach to overcoming challenges by being able to plan, organise and manage complex priorities.  The role holder will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant subject and Relevant professional qualifications such as IT Service Management (ITIL), or project/ programme management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP etc.).

The successful candidate will work closely with and deputise for the Director of IT where needed, representing the IT Department as required within the University.   

Overseeing and supporting, alongside the relevant sub departments within IT, the daily operations of the IT Department including service desk, desktop & AV, application support, business partnership, asset management, general administration, security management and service management as it relates to service experience.
