ABOUT THE JOB

Police Scotland have an exciting opportunity for a Design Specialist with a passion for business and service design who demonstrates exceptional engagement, relationship, and problem solving skills that can help shape future services for the public. The successful candidate will provide a professional, trusted, and proactive approach to service design, ensuring the smooth running and successful design and implementation of the PSOS Target Operating Model (TOM) and Service Design function.

ABOUT YOU

You will provide specialist design services, advice, guidance and support on a variety of design project to help embed service design thinking and expertise across Police Scotland. The appointed Design Specialist will support the Design Manager in identifying critical design impacts/conflicts/gaps, and manage the resolution of these where possible.

Alongside the above, you will be required to provide supervision and direction for the Strategic Design Officer and any additional matrixed resources as required. You will also contribute to the support and guidance of a Service Design community within the Change Team and wider organisation.

Experience of supervising or managing a Design team or Design discipline would be beneficial but is not essential. The candidate will be someone who understands broad design thinking and methodologies and can translate this into meaningful design outputs that help to shape the services for the public.

This full time post is temporary for up to 18 months and requires Standard Recruitment Vetting. The posts can be based anywhere across Scotland; please refer to the additional information section of the job description for more detail. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
