Who we are

Alcohol Focus Scotland (AFS) is the national charity working to prevent and reduce alcohol harm. Our vision is a future free from the widespread health and social harm caused by alcohol.

AFS makes a unique contribution to preventing alcohol harm in Scotland by advocating for cost-effective action that works for people and communities and which reduces health inequalities. Our advocacy work comprises policy and research, learning and development and communications. We are widely respected for our evidenced-based and collaborative approach to effecting change in the public interest. We work with a wide range of people and partners and promote the sharing of good practice at local, UK, and international level.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and experienced senior policy and development practitioner to join our dedicated and skilled team. You will lead the development of AFS’s contribution to local and national alcohol treatment and recovery policy, and support policy implementation and practice with key stakeholders in health and social care and the third sector. Through collaborative partnership working, you will identify and develop practical tools and resources to support improvement and facilitate knowledge exchange opportunities.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Experience of developing effective collaborative partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders at a strategic level, to effect changes in policy and practice.
  • Experience of developing information, tools and materials to influence policy and practice change.
  • Experience of interpreting and communicating evidence and research in an engaging and accessible format for a wide range of audiences.

This role will form a crucial part of AFS’s work to deliver improvements in alcohol treatment and recovery policy and practice.

Alcohol Focus Scotland is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

What we offer

The support of an organisation committed to its operational values.

The satisfaction of working with a skilled and dedicated team to make change happen.
