Who we are

Lothian Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.

What we do

Provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for East Lothian, the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian and West Lothian Councils in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll, Valuation (Council Tax) List and Registers of Electors. Our principal aim is to provide high quality, effective and responsive services to all our stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

As a Senior Manager, the post is responsible for the leadership and strategic development of an operational service delivering a service across LVJB and its constituent councils. The successful candidate will be task and function driven, providing a range of services that support the overall aims of workload management, disposal, planning and implementation within the Technical area. The post shall focus on immediate and future workload requirements while also taking part in the organisational and system development required to meet the future challenges that face the Technical areas. Currently the main tasks are in respect of Revaluation and running roll appeal disposal, Council Tax appeal disposal, preparation for future Revaluations, and involvement with the SAA and other external organisations.

We are seeking candidates who are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The successful candidate will have an ability to provide strategy, direction and compliance on a range of legislative and regulatory requirements and have experience of planning and managing complex projects. A proven track record in leadership and communication is essential, along with the ability to work under pressure, identify and manage risk and meet statutory deadlines.
