The Murrayfield Dementia Project SC023210

Established in 1990, Murrayfield Dementia Project has uniquely and successfully developed a service that delivers enjoyable companionship; longer, healthier life opportunities with restorative benefits and relief for carers for people in NW Edinburgh, mainly over 65, frail elderly and/or with early stage dementia.

Our service runs three days a week and provides 10 places from 9.30am to 3pm including journey time. Transportation challenges are addressed by creative use of Community, volunteer and staff vehicles. We provide person centred activity sessions in partnership with members and their carers whose needs have been identified by our Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) trained staff. We provide nutritional meals and snacks during our sessions. Our cognitively stimulating activity programmes are delivered by staff, volunteers and contributors in a way that are relevant to member’s age and stage. Programmes include personal themes such as memory, topical events, hobbies, skills etc.

We have a professional staff of six. This includes both support workers and chef. The club also has additional support of a dedicated team of volunteers that enhance the service.
