Background

PKAVS is a leading charity in Perth & Kinross, enhancing lives and connecting communities through diverse services in the areas of Carers, Mental Wellbeing, Minority Communities, Third Sector support and Volunteering. Every year PKAVS enhances the lives of over 5,000 local people, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. PKAVS is also the Third Sector Interface for Perth & Kinross, supporting and developing the Third Sector and enhancing the Sector’s role in Community Planning.

PKAVS Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub provides support to people (aged 16 and above) recovering from mental health difficulties within two locations in Perth & Kinross. The community-based service aims to create an environment of wellbeing, offering a range of meaningful activities to support clients in achieving their individual goals through a recovery and outcomes-based model. Activities include gardening, creative arts, café/catering experience, woodwork and physical/nutritional activity.

Role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work as part of our Hub. The role of Activity Engagement Worker (Creative Wellbeing) is to promote holistic wellbeing and recovery while supporting an outward thinking approach to art, and what art represents by providing services across four subject areas: arts and crafts, creative writing, performance (dance and drama) and music.

Our Hub requires someone to deliver a themed, structured programme of expressive workshops spanning across four areas of expressive art, to all clients within The Walled Garden and Wisecraft using a whole service approach. Working across both locations on a rotational basis, the post holder will work collaboratively with their counterpart to plan, develop and deliver each four week block. The post holder will encourage participation in external groups alongside in-house options. Engagement Workers will foster good relationships with local communities and services.

As well as using art as a therapeutic medium, there will be an expectation for the creative wellbeing department to showcase their expressive art which may also be suitable for sale/performance. Engagement workers should be working alongside the ethos of client development and empowering people to move towards positive destinations within the field of the arts.

The post holder will work with and support volunteers to lead and develop activities in an inclusive manner.

Offers will be made subject to satisfactory references, PVG check, and eligibility to work in the UK.
